About Plant- Peperomia obtusifolia is a bushy plant, up to 12 inches (30 cm) tall, with thick, erect stems. Leaves are waxy, dark green, elliptic, and up to 6 inches (15 cm) long. Small, greenish-white flowers appear from late spring to early fall on spikes up to 5 inches (12.5 cm) long. They are interesting but not particularly showy.
Peperomia obtusifolia (Baby Rubber Plant) Care
Light- Peperomias do well in light to moderate light, such as found in a northern or east-facing window. They can be easily grown under fluorescent lights.
Water- Keep the soil moist during the growing season and provide relatively high humidity through spraying or by setting the pot in a gravel tray.
Temperature- Peperomios do well in the relatively cool environment of most homes (although they dislike the dry). Aim for 65°F to 75°F (18°C to 24°C).
Soil- A loose, well-drained, very rich potting mix.
Fertilizer- Fertilize biweekly during the growing season with a diluted liquid fertilizer or use controlled-release fertilizer pellets at the beginning of the growing season.
